MoSPI’s ISP shows 17 out of 19 sub-sectors record positive growth in July

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released Index of Services Production (ISP) for July 2026, which shown that 17 out of the 19 sub-sectors recorded positive growth, while 10 sub-sector recorded double-digit growth during the same period. Top sub-sectors reporting strong growth in July 2026 were Administrative and Support Services, Retail Trade, Real Estate, Accommodation and Food, and Banking, with growth of 20.9%, 18.5%,14.4%, 12.6% and 12.3%, respectively. 

Other growing sub-sectors were Wholesale Trade with rise of 12.1%, Telecommunications with 11%, IT and computer related services with 10.7%, Professional, scientific & technical services including R & D with 10.4%, Information and Broadcasting with 10%, Road Transport with 9.9%, Warehousing and support activities for transportation with 9.8%, Insurance with 8.9%, Postal and Courier with 8.7%, Water Transport with 7.7%, Railway Transport with 7.5%, and Arts, Entertainment and Recreation Services with 1.7%. 

However, 'Repair services' and 'Air transport' were the only sub-sectors which recorded contraction in services production. The Repair services recorded 5.00% fall in service production, while Air transport service production contracted by 8.4% in July, 2026.

The ministry said the monthly ISPs are being published on an experimental basis. The publication of Trial Series would enable MoSPI to examine data quality, test its resilience and also receive feedback from stakeholders and users. It added Indices of Railways, Banking and Insurance sub-sectors are based on provisional monthly data and would undergo revision on an annual basis.
