Indian rupee remains unchanged against US dollar on Wednesday

Indian rupee remained unchanged against US dollar on Wednesday. Initially, rupee opened on a stronger note as investors were optimistic as MoSPI’s Index of Services Production (ISP) for July 2026, showed that 17 out of the 19 sub-sectors recorded positive growth, while 10 sub-sector recorded double-digit growth during the same period.  Top sub-sectors reporting strong growth in July 2026 were Administrative and Support Services, Retail Trade, Real Estate, Accommodation and Food, and Banking, with growth of 20.9%, 18.5%,14.4%, 12.6% and 12.3%, respectively. However, over the course of the session rupee came under pressure as traders took cautious approach amid persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs). FIIs were the net sellers on Tuesday, offloading securities worth Rs 9,980.22 crore. On the global front, British pound has strengthened against the US dollar on Wednesday after stronger-than-expected GDP data.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.94 (Provisional), remained unchanged from its previous close of 95.94 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.98 and 95.76 respectively.
