Rupee weakens against US dollar in early trade on Thursday
Oct-01-2026
The Indian Rupee weakened against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, pressured by persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs), who offloaded equities worth Rs 10,148.41 crore on a net basis on Wednesday. Moreover, strong dollar demand from state-run oil companies also put pressure on rupee sentiments. However, aggressive foreign exchange intervention by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and easing crude oil prices on prospects of US-Iran peace talks have limited further downside in the domestic currency.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 95.97, weaker by 3 paise from its previous close of 95.94 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.9875 and 95.8950 respectively.
