Govt’s gross GST collections rise around 15% to Rs 2,03,521 crore in September

The government data has showed that gross goods and services tax (GST) collections rose 14.75% to Rs 2,03,521 crore in September 2026 as compared to Rs 1,77,365 crore in September 2025 aided by domestic consumption and strong growth in revenues from imports. Gross domestic GST revenue stood at Rs 1,37,996 crore, up 10.10% from a year ago. 

Of the total gross GST collections, Gross Central GST (CGST) collection from domestic transactions during the reported month stood at Rs 37,762 crore, State GST (SGST) at Rs 45,363 crore and Integrated GST (IGST) at Rs 54,871 crore. On the other hand, IGST collection from import rose by 25.93% to Rs 65,525 crore in September 2026 from Rs 52,031 crore in the corresponding month of last year.

GST refunds declined marginally by 3.04% to Rs 27,001 crore in September 2026 from Rs 27,848 crore in September 2025. After adjusting refunds, net GST revenues in September 2026 rose 18.06% to Rs 1,76,520 crore from Rs 1,49,517 crore in September 2025. Meanwhile, net customs revenue rose 30.76% to Rs 52,028 crore in the reporting month over Rs 39,788 crore in the same month a year ago.
