Rupee weakens against US dollar on Thursday
Oct-01-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Thursday as surge in crude prices sparked caution among investors. Brent crude oil prices have surged past the $100 per barrel mark after US President Donald Trump threatened to attack Iran. Besides, persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) weighed on domestic currency. FIIs were the net sellers on Wednesday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 10,148.41 crore. On the global front, British pound has weakened against the US dollar on Thursday as rising oil prices fuelled inflation concerns.

Finally, the rupee ended at 96.22 (Provisional), weakened by 28 paise from its previous close of 95.94 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 96.34 and 95.89 respectively.
