Oct-05-2026

Indian equity markets are likely to make a positive start on Monday, amid gains in global markets after fears of monetary tightening eased following softer-than-expected US employment data. However, traders may remain cautious as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their selling spree, offloading equities worth Rs 9,484.22 crore on Thursday. Meanwhile, markets were closed on Friday on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayant.

Some of the key factors to be watched:

Global uncertainty now a standing condition; policies should be designed to build resilience: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said global uncertainty is now a standing condition and there is a need to design policies which build resilience, and called upon nations to have an open and predictable economic relationship.

Global front: U.S. markets ended higher on Friday as investors reduced their expectations of imminent Federal Reserve monetary policy tightening following a softer-than-expected September jobs report. Asian markets are trading mostly in green on Monday following the broadly positive cues from Wall Street on Friday.

Back home, Indian equity benchmarks ended lower for the fourth straight day on Thursday as relentless foreign fund outflows, high bond yields and a fresh spike in crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiment. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 10,148.41 crore on Wednesday, according to exchange data. Finally, the BSE Sensex fell 570.59 points or 0.79% to 71,909.70 and the CNX Nifty was down by 198.50 points or 0.88% to 22,421.95.

Some of the important factors in trade:
