Markets hold gains in late afternoon session
Oct-06-2026

Benchmarks continued to trade firmly in the late afternoon session as Brent crude oil prices retreated below the $100-a-barrel mark, easing inflationary concerns. The increased crude export from West Asian suppliers and G7’s commitment to release 100 million barrels of crude oil have cooled off the surge in oil prices. Investors remained optimistic after World Bank in its latest October economic update has raised India’s economic growth forecast to 7.1% from 6.6% forecasted in April, supported by robust domestic demand and strong exports, despite global headwinds.

Both Senex and Nifty were trading with gains of over six tenth of a percent, supported by strong gains in Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Trent. Trent was up 12.35% after the company reported standalone revenue from operations at Rs 5,788 crore (excl. GST) for the Q2 FY27 as against Rs 4,724 crore (excl.
