Post Session: Quick Review
Oct-13-2026

Indian equity markets rebounded on Tuesday, recovering from the previous session’s losses amid easing crude oil prices and reduced geopolitical tensions. Investors largely shrugged off a faster-than-expected rise in retail inflation, which heightened concerns over the possibility of further interest rate hikes. India’s retail inflation accelerated to 5.54% in September.

Both the Sensex and Nifty closed more than one and half per cent higher, supported by broad-based buying across sectors. The IT sector led the gains, with HCL Tech climbing over 8% following its Q2 earnings announcement, while TCS gained over 6%, extending its recent rally.

Some of the important factors in trade:

He said the two countries should aim to double bilateral trade by 2030.

On the global front: European stocks were trading in green, as investors await key U.S. inflation data and corporate earnings in the coming days for direction. Asian markets ended mixed following the mixed cues from Wall Street overnight.

During the meeting, Agarwal highlighted India's progress under the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS), including the notification of emission intensity reduction targets for 490 industrial units and ongoing efforts to develop the domestic carbon market. He also underlined India's progress in increasing the share of non-fossil sources in its electricity generation capacity, noting that non-fossil sources account for 308 GW of the country's total installed capacity of 558 GW.

The EU side appreciated India's progress in developing its carbon market and shared developments relating to CBAM implementation. Both sides expressed willingness to continue technical engagement on recognition of carbon pricing mechanisms, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) systems, and capacity building. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation and facilitate continued dialogue on carbon markets, CBAM-related methodologies and other areas of mutual interest.

South Korea’s Kospi index tumbled more than 5% after a heavy sell-off in memory-chip and artificial intelligence-related stocks after reports that Chinese memory chip maker CXMT made rapid technological advances on a new memory architecture, challenging major manufacturers like Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology. Meanwhile, stretched AI valuations and Broadcom Chief Executive Hock Tan’s comments comparing AI investors to gamblers also fuelled further worry.
