Rupee shows mild strength against US dollar on Monday
Oct-19-2026

Indian rupee has shown mild strength against US dollar on Monday. Initially, rupee opened on flattish note and appreciated against the US currency in the fist half of the session as investors remained optimistic after foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net buyers on Friday’s session. FIIs were the net buyers of securities worth Rs 1,165.92 crore on Friday. However, in later part of the session the domestic currency gave up strength as global crude oil prices continued to trade higher. The Brent crude oil prices traded around $108 per barrel mark amid uncertainty over regional supply prospects, as Iran escalated its attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and Ukraine conducted drone attacks on Russian refineries. On the global front, euro has weakened against the US dollar on Monday as France's political unrest heightened concerns over the country’s fiscal outlook.

Finally, the rupee ended at 94.87 (Provisional), strengthened by 2 paise from its previous close of 94.89 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 94.97 and 94.75 respectively.
