Indian rupee strengthens against US dollar amid optimism over India-US trade deal
Oct-21-2026

Indian rupee has strengthened against US dollar on Wednesday amid softening US bond yields and possible central bank intervention. Further, investor remained sanguine about India-US bilateral trade deal after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US is ‘very close’ to finalising a trade deal with India. Besides, traders overlooked the elevated crude oil and persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs). FIIs were the net sellers on Monday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 1,148.64 crore. On the global front, euro has weakened against the US dollar on Wednesday amid concerns over France’s public finances and social unrest.

Finally, the rupee ended at 94.41 (Provisional), strengthened by 50 paise from its previous close of 94.91 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 94.82 and 94.35 respectively.
