Rupee weakens against US dollar amid surge in crude prices
Oct-22-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Thursday amid surge in global crude oil prices. The brent crude oil prices have surged past $112 a barrel amid escalating tensions in the West Asia after a deadly attack on a Saudi oil field added to concerns over supply disruptions and global inflationary pressures. Meanwhile, traders paid no heed to renewed capital inflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs). FIIs were the net buyers on Wednesday’s session, buying securities worth Rs 1,022.32 crore. On the global front, British pound has weakened against the US dollar on Thursday, weighed by spike in crude oil prices.

Finally, the rupee ended at 94.83 (Provisional), weakened by 45 paise from its previous close of 94.38 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 94.94 and 94.32 respectively.
