Indian rupee weakens against US dollar on Monday
Oct-26-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Monday amid dollar strength ahead of US Federal Reserve's policy meeting set for Tuesday and Wednesday. Further, elevated crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiments with brent crude oil prices trading above $114 a barrel. Besides, traders overlooked the data indicating renewed foreign capital inflows in Indian markets. The foreign institutional investors were the net buyers on Friday’s session, buying securities worth Rs 887.65 crore. Moreover, market participants ignored the Department of Commerce Secretary, Rajesh Agrawal’s comments that India has potential to increase its share in global merchandise exports from around 2% to 15-20%. On the global front, British pound has weakened against the US dollar on Monday amid caution ahead of UK budget on Wednesday.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.20 (Provisional), weakened by 27 paise from its previous close of 94.93 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.26 and 94.91 respectively.
