Rupee shows mild strength against US dollar on Tuesday
Oct-27-2026

Indian rupee has shown mild strength against US dollar on Tuesday as investors remained optimistic after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reiterated the Centre’s commitment to fiscal consolidation, citing annual budgets as evidence of its efforts to rein in the fiscal deficit. She highlighted that the government is aiming to cap the national debt at 50% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2030. Meanwhile, capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and elevated crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiments. FIIs were the net sellers on Monday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 1,462.49 crore. On the global front, euro has weakened against the US dollar on Tuesday as investors await European Central Bank’s policy decision.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.07 (Provisional), strengthened by 8 paise from its previous close of 95.15 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.24 and 95.02 respectively.
