AEPC calls for diversifying India’s export base
Oct-29-2026

Apparel exporters body Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has called for diversifying India’s export base, highlighting that nearly 88 per cent of the country’s exports originate from just 100 districts. It also urged the exporters to increase utilisation of India's expanding network of free trade agreements (FTAs). It noted that India aims to increase its textile and apparel exports to $100 billion by 2030.

AEPC Secretary General Mithileshwar Thakur emphasised the importance of inclusive export growth and highlighted the strategy of developing 100 Champion Districts as global export hubs and 100 Aspirational Districts as self-reliant manufacturing centres.

He also highlighted the opportunities emerging from India's expanding network of FTAs, including new-generation agreements covering areas such as digital trade, e-commerce, investment and sustainability.
