Markets bounce back in late trade
Nov-04-2026

Indian equity markets have bounced back to trade in positive territory in late afternoon session. Capital inflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were uplifted the trading sentiments. FIIs were the net buyers in Tuesday’s session, buying securities worth Rs 6,836.81 crore. Further, investors were sanguine about country’s economic health after HSBC India Services PMI data showed that India’s services sector activity recorded the strongest pace of expansion in four months in October 2026 as demand buoyancy fuelled growth in business activity and new orders amid easing cost pressures. The seasonally adjusted HSBC India Services PMI Business Activity Index rose to 55.8 in October from 55.2 in September. On sector specific basis, IT stocks faced selling pressure as traders weigh expectoration of tighter regulations and a closer scrutiny of the tech-heavy sectors post Democrats' win in US mid-term election.

On the global front, Asian equity markets were trading mixed as Democrats’ win in both houses of US Congress raised uncertainty over tech regulation, trade policy and the U.S. budget deficit. European equity markets were trading higher as decline in crude oil prices eased inflationary concerns.

The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 77192.84, up by 274.99 points or 0.36% after trading in a range of 76604.85 and 77396.04. There were 19 stocks advancing against 11 stocks declining on the index.

The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were Capital Goods up by 3.09%, Realty up by 2.42%, Power up by 2.13%, Consumer Durables up by 2.04% and Industrials up by 2.01%, while IT down by 1.52% and TECK down by 1.11% were the only losing indices on BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Bharat Electronics up by 4.95%, Titan Company up by 2.90%, ITC up by 2.41%, Adani Ports & SEZ up by 2.03% and Interglobe Aviation up by 1.94%. On the flip side, TCS down by 2.80%, Infosys down by 2.29%, HCL Technologies down by 1.99%, Eternal down by 1.66% and Kotak Mahindra Bank down by 1.26% were the top losers.

Meanwhile, India’s services sector activity recorded the strongest pace of expansion in four months in October 2026 as demand buoyancy fuelled growth in business activity and new orders amid easing cost pressures. Companies were cautiously optimistic about the outlook, and they lifted jobs to the least extent in four months. Moreover, the latest expansion in international sales was the weakest in almost four years.

According to the survey report, the seasonally adjusted HSBC India Services PMI Business Activity Index rose to 55.8 in October from 55.2 in September. New business growth was identified by survey participants as the main driver behind the rise in output. Favourable demand conditions, new client wins and successful advertising boosted new order intakes.

Encouragingly, input cost inflation retreated to its lowest mark since August 2020. Concurrently, prices charged for the provision of Indian services rose at the weakest rate since June. Cost pressures were most intense in the Consumer Services segment, which was the only category to see a stronger upturn in input prices than in September. The softest rate of inflation was in Finance & Insurance.

Meanwhile, the HSBC India Composite PMI Output Index -- which measures both manufacturing and services -- also increased from 55.9 in September to 56.2 in October, marking the fastest rise in aggregate output in four months and reflecting healthy business activity.

The CNX Nifty is currently trading at 23899.30, up by 88.45 points or 0.37% after trading in a range of 23696.15 and 23946.35. There were 32 stocks advancing against 18 stocks declining on the index.

The top gainers on Nifty were Adani Enterprises up by 4.40%, Bharat Electronics up by 4.31%, Titan Company up by 3.62%, Max Healthcare Institute up by 2.85% and ITC up by 2.23%. On the flip side, TCS down by 2.59%, Infosys down by 2.37%, HCL Technologies down by 2.27%, Coal India down by 2.08% and BSE down by 1.82% were the top losers.
