Lok Sabha polls: SP chief Akhilesh Yadav files nomination from Kannauj seat
Apr-25-2024

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav filed his nomination from Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency. He was accompanied by party leaders, including Ram Gopal Yadav.

After filing his nomination papers, Akhilesh Yadav expressed gratitude to the people of the constituency. SP chief also alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party has ‘deliberately stalled’ the development of the region. He said, 'BJP has done negative politics. BJP has time and again insulted people. I had come to serve the people of Kannauj earlier as well. The people of Kannauj have seen development happening'. On Monday, the SP had declared his nephew Tej Pratap as its candidate from Kannauj but changed its decision on Wednesday.

Akhilesh Yadav served as Lok Sabha MP from 2000-2012. He resigned from the Kannauj parliamentary seat in 2012 after he became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The Congress is contesting on 17 seats and the Samajwadi Party has the remaining 63 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Voting will be held in Kannauj on May 13 in the fourth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
